I was sorting through all of my art books today while unpacking. And of course, I did what we all do when we don't really feel like unpacking boxes or doing housework...I got distracted. I ran across a book I bought a while back called "Drawing Lab for Mixed Media Artists" by Carla Sonheim and started flipping through it. It is a book with a lot of drawing exercises in it, everything from simple blind contours to finding your inner Dr. Seuss. And well it got me thinking...that and the lack of motivation to NOT unpack anymore boxes... I should really draw more! So guess what I did, Yep you guessed it. I made popcorn...oh that wasn't it? Sorry ADD kicking in. After the popcorn I decided to do one sketching exercises a day until school starts up again. Exciting, right?!?!
So here is Day 1: Inspired by pets, draw 30ish cats in bed. (And of course I have to change cats to rats)
So the idea is to draw quick, simple and expressive "rats" while laying on your bed. The laying in bed is suppose to help you draw loose and keep you from tensing up. That and who isn't excited about laying around in your pjs! So here are my sketches...
The sketch I choose was one of Marshmallow attacking my pencil while I was sketching. I thought it would be fun to keep it goofy and light.
Tune in tomorrow for more sketching fun!
